The Last Monitor

The Heritage Network - HMVS Cerberus, the world's last substantially intact monitor is at serious risk of being lost for ever if realistic government funding isn't forthcoming very soon. With the Victorian State Government's recent provision of a modest amount to secure removal of the ship's four RML cannons the fate of HMVS Cerberus would appear to rest with a successful outcome to her nomination for inclusion on the Australian Government's new "Federal Heritage List". Heritage Buffs and patriots can aid in the campaign by contacting your local Australian Commonwealth MP or the Hon Ian Cambell (Minister for the Environment & Heritage) to directly express support for inclusion of the Cerberus and further funding to secure her future viability. Find out more about this unique vessel and its place in maritime history with a visit to The Heritage Network.
